SWAT Kats

The next best cartoon, that I’m still not tired of watching is most definitely SWAT Kats: the radical squadron! The theme song still gets me as excited as I used to when I was a kid. SWAT Kats is an animated series created by Christian Tremblay and Yvon Tremblay and produced by Hanna-Barbera and Turner Program Services. Each episode is about half an hour long, there are a total of twenty-five finished episodes and a special episode.
SWAT Kats is basically about a fictional metropolis called Megakat City, which is populated entirely by anthropomorphic felines who are just like people, known as “kats”. “T-Bone” and “Razor” two anthropomorphic cats who work as mechanics in Megakat City. Although Chance and Jake have a background in law enforcement, they were fired from their positions and no longer fight crime “officially”. Luckily for them, their mechanic jobs guarantee that plenty of useful junk is always laying around—and before long, they’ve got a respectable collection of makeshift gadgets that they use to combat criminals on the side. Using discarded military parts and weapons from the salvage yard, Chance and Jake built themselves a three-engine jet fighter called the Turbokat.

Their enemies are often “villains-of-the-week”, but a rotating cast of regulars are also on hand to make trouble. The Swat Kat’s group of friends, on the other hand, are mainly limited to Calico “Callie” Briggs and Lieutenant Felina Feral, the niece of Chance and Jake’s former boss. The episodes are always light-hearted and action-packed, even though sometimes the constant cat puns get a little stale. All in all I would recommend everyone to watch SWAT Kats, especially for those who love action movies.
